Vår -The World Fell

It is a very fine line to being an indie artist, to reject the preconceived constraints of music is a bold claim for anyone to make. Due to the terms sprawling inclusiveness it has come to be commercialised over the past years (greenday), to the point where it has apparently lost all meaning. To be “indie” is to be a try hard, some cunt wearing shades indoors, a chino wanker. The Danish duo of Vår (pronounced war) however, is refreshing in their unapologetic polarisation and musical individualism. Their latest single is the electronic “the world fell”. The blend of post-apocalyptic disco eerily hanging in the background and the preference for tribal chanting instead of lyrics make you need something you never even knew you wanted. In here lies the essence of indie music. No matter how uncanny the final package, it feels as if there was simply no other way it could have been made.
